What CAD file formats do you accept for CNC quotes?

Accepted Answer

STEP, IGES, STL, DWG, DXF, PDF, X_T, and SolidWorks part/assembly files. STEP is preferred — it preserves tolerances and surface features cleanly. Send a 2D drawing alongside the 3D model so we can see dimensions, GD&T, and surface finish callouts.

What is the tightest tolerance Ginwate can hold?

Accepted Answer

±0.005 mm (5 microns) on critical features when the drawing requires it. Standard tolerance for production parts is ±0.01 to ±0.025 mm. We use Hexagon CMM and Trimos height gauges for verification, with FAI report on first article.

Do you have a minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

Accepted Answer

No. We machine single-piece prototypes through 10,000+ unit production runs on the same lines. Most clients start with 1-5 prototypes, then scale once the design is validated.

How fast is your quote turnaround?

Accepted Answer

Engineer-reviewed quote within 1-12 hours for standard parts. Complex assemblies or multi-material projects take up to 24 hours. Every quote includes free DFM (Design for Manufacturability) review.

What metals do you machine?

Accepted Answer

Aluminum 6061, 6063, 7075, 2024 · Stainless steel 303, 304, 316, 316L, 17-4 PH · Carbon and tool steel including 4140, 1045, D2, S7 · Brass C360, C260 · Copper C101, C110 · Titanium Grade 2, Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) · Inconel, Monel, and bronze on request.

Which engineering plastics do you machine?

Accepted Answer

POM/Delrin · PEEK · PTFE/Teflon · Nylon 6, Nylon 66, Cast Nylon · ABS · Polycarbonate · Acrylic/PMMA · UHMW · Glass-filled and carbon-filled variants of most of the above.

Can you handle 5-axis machining and complex geometry?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We run dedicated 5-axis centers for turbine blades, aerospace brackets, medical implants, and impellers. Mill-turn combinations let us finish a complex part in a single setup, removing the accumulated error from re-fixturing.

What surface finishes do you offer?

Accepted Answer

Anodizing Type II and Type III (hard-coat), blackening, electroplating (zinc, nickel, chrome), powder coating, sandblast, brushed/satin, polished, electropolish, passivation, and PVD coating. We pre-compensate machined dimensions when plating affects tolerance.

Will you sign an NDA before reviewing my drawing?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We sign NDAs at zero cost and route signed agreements to the engineering team before file review. Your IP, drawings, and project specs are stored on encrypted servers and never shared with third parties.

Question 10

What documentation comes with finished parts?

Accepted Answer

First Article Inspection (FAI) report with dimensional data, Material Certificate showing alloy and heat number, Certificate of Conformity, surface finish reports (Ra) where specified, and full export packing list with DHL/FedEx/UPS tracking.

How do you handle parts that fail inspection?

Accepted Answer

Free rework or refund. We inspect every part before it leaves the floor, but if anything ships out of tolerance, you don't pay for it. We catch most issues at the DFM stage before machining begins, which is why our reject rate stays under 0.3%.
